The Dental Crown

A dental crown, also known as a "cap", usually is needed, to protect your tooth from severe breakage, in three possible instances.1. When a tooth is already broken. 2. When a tooth has had a root canal procedure. 3. When a tooth has a large filling. A crown used to require two appointments. The first was to freeze your mouth with an injection of anesthesia to prep the tooth. Then a temporary crown was placed until the second appointment. The procedure also included multiple impressions being taken for a properly fitted crown. At the second appointment, weeks later, you were once again frozen, the temporary crown removed, and then we tried in the permanent crown. Once we felt the color and fit were good, we cemented it in.
